Company Description:

Boutique Law Office in Downtown Guelph, that focuses on real estate, family law, corporate law, wills and estates.  Seeking an experienced Legal Assistant/Clerk to our Real Estate Team for a one year maternity position.  This position may be part or full time hours for the right candidate.

Duties:

  • more than 2 years of experience in real estate law;
  • proficiency in PCLaw, Teraview and Lawyer Done Deal;
  • Handling all aspects of residential real estate transactions (purchase, sale and mortgage) from beginning to end;
  • Preparing and processing documentation for transactions, including purchase/sale of real property and other related transactions;
  • Preparing and arranging for E-registration of documents on title;
  • Reviewing and describing the nature of Land Title charges and encumbrances;
  • Ensuring cooperation and open communication with lending institution, clients, agents, insurance brokers and other firms, etc.;
  • Dedicated to providing quality service to clients;
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills;
  • Thorough, with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy;
  • Self-starter, works independently and requires minimal supervision, and works well as part of a team;
  • Proven initiative, problem solving and resourcefulness;
  • Able to multi-task calmly and to work in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Experience in commercial/corporate would be an asset; and
  • Experience in family law would be an asset.
